Time:  10:00AM – 3:00PM

Location:   Performance BMW

                      1810 N. Fordham Blvd (US 501)

The Tarheel BMWCCA is very excited to hold our very first CCA Open House to be hosted at the new Performance BMW showroom and service facility from 10:00AM – 3:00PM, Saturday May 10th.    Performance BMW would like to forge a perpetual alliance and sponsorship of our CCA Club chapter events.   Please make your best effort to support this exciting event being held at their brand new sales and service facility!

Planned activities include special clinics given by Performance BMW service, parts, and technical staff.   Clinic subjects include:

·        latest technology design in new BMW vehicle models

·        the new Performance line of BMW parts

·        mechanical repair tips and discussion, which includes vintage vehicle subjects

·        1-on-1 time with Performance top parts and technical staff

·        tours of the new service facility and latest diagnostic and repair techniques and technology

New BMW models (hopefully including the new X6 and 1-series) will be on display, as well as selected M-series and performance vehicles.   There will be sale specials on selected Parts and Accessory items, in addition to the regular 10% discount to regular BMWCCA members.   Additionally, CCA members may enroll in Performance BMW’s ‘VIP” program, which will uniquely identify Club members and entitle them to additional sales incentives on parts and vehicles throughout the year.

Performance BMW will graciously provide a buffet lunch to all attending members, and tickets to available door prizes for those who register at the event.

There will be a small car corral available for members wishing to sell only their personal BMWs (sorry, no commercial or non-BMW vendors permitted).

We will also be holding a “friendly concours” event, with vehicles being judged by Performance Parts and Service staff.   So “spiff-up” your favorite daily-driver or show vehicle, and get the recognition you deserve!

Please register and RSVP to Jill McCullough at Performance BMW:    jill.mccullough@hendrickauto.com

or to CCA Club contact:  Denis Kingberg  at  dkingberg@nc.rr.com

Car corral and “friendly concours” display spaces must be reserved a minimum of one week prior to the event

Tarheel and National Capital Joint ///M Car Driver’s School at the BMW Performance Center

 May 31, 2008

The National Capital Chapter and the Tarheel Chapter are pleased to announce the first of two joint ‘///M Club Day driving schools for 2008 at the BMW Performance Center in Greer, SC. The expert instructors at the Performance Center design this event specifically for our Chapter members. It is truly a one-of-a-kind experience!

As always, the Performance Center provides the cars, instructors, gas, tires, lunch and a first-class facility for a fun-filled day. Just show up ready to drive! The school’s focus is to improve your driving skills through a combination of driving exercises, classroom instruction and competitive events. No helmets or previous driving school experience is required. This year’s schools should be similar to previous ones, which have included instruction on vehicle dynamics, proper driving position, grip, weight-transfer, oversteer/understeer, improved vision and car control skills. The day is divided into various morning skill and afternoon competition sessions.

We will be driving current model ///M Cars. Please note that the Performance Center staff continually makes changes to the program, so session contents and cars may change depending on time schedules and new product model availability.  Also, this one-day school is a special program that the Performance Center makes available to the BMWCCA chapters -it is not the same program as their M-School.

Since this is a joint school, each chapter will have 16 slots available (school has 32 participants in total) and we anticipate that it will fill rapidly. The cost of the school is $625 per driver. Registration is now open and applications are being accepted through March 30, 2008 (the Initial Registration Period).  All completed applications received during the Initial Registration Period will receive equal consideration for selection into the school.  If we have more applicants than slots, participants for the school will be selected by a random drawing of those applications received on or before March 30, 2008 (and a wait list will be established).  Applications will be considered complete upon receipt of both the registration form and full payment.

We will also offer optional dinner/socials on Friday and Saturday evenings and will, subject to availability, try to set up a factory tour of the BMW Manufacturing facility on the afternoon of Friday May 30.  Due to the size of our group, we are usually split across multiple tours of manufacturing facility.  Since the NCC folks have a long commute from our nation’s capital, Tarheel members who want to do the tour should plan to be available for the earlier tour times, usually beginning around 2:00 p.m.

Lastly, Tarheel and NCC will be headed back to the Performance Center in the fall for a second joint ///M Club Day driving school on October 25, 2008.  Reserve the date on your calendar now!

FINE PRINT:

• To insure that all Tarheel Chapter members have an opportunity for the limited slots for this event, all applications received by March 30, 2008 will receive the same priority.

• A current BMW CCA membership number is required – and will be confirmed.

• Applicants may include one immediate family member from their household to participate in the school (i.e. send in $1,250 if your spouse or child will be doing the school with you). Although we can’t imagine why this family member is not an Associate Member, there is no requirement that he or she be a BMWCCA member.

• All applicants must be 18 or older with a valid driver’s license, no exceptions.

•Priority will be given to Tarheel Chapter members for our chapter’s slots in the school.  If the school is not filled by March 30, 2008, any unfilled slots will be made available to members of other BMW CCA Chapters (with priority to National Capital Chapter members).

The registration fee covers the cars, gas, tires, a deli lunch, instruction, use of the Performance Center’s world class facilities and the cost of the factory tour.   Lodging and other meals are extra.

Cancellation Policy: If selected for the school, the last day to cancel and receive a full refund is April 12, 2008.  After that date, you will receive a refund only if we are able to fill your spot in the school.

•If you do not get into the school and would like your voided check returned to you, please enclose a self addressed stamped envelope.  Otherwise, we’ll shred your un-cashed check.

If you have any additional questions, please contact Stephen Dean by e-mail at stephendean@nc.rr.com
